Authority Trend
Authority Trend is CataSEO's measure of where your site's authority is heading. It takes the two inputs behind Domain Authority — the DA score itself and the count of referring domains (separate websites linking to you) — and compares them over a 13-month window, long enough to see through seasonal noise and short enough to reflect what you've done this year. The result is a direction: rising, flat or falling.
The trend is often more useful than the score. A store with modest authority that's steadily earning new links from suppliers, press and niche sites is on a path that compounds; a store with a higher score that's quietly losing links as old mentions expire is on a path that decays. Search engines reward the first pattern and AI tools, which lean on the same trust signals when deciding which stores to name, follow suit. Authority Trend turns a number you can't act on into a question you can: are more real sites pointing at you this year than last?
What it means for your store
Rising: other sites are discovering and citing you — trust that lifts every page without you touching it.
Flat: nobody new is linking to you; you hold position only while competitors stay still.
Falling: links lost faster than earned; rankings usually follow within a few months.
Why it matters
Authority is a snapshot; the trend is where it's going. A store at DA 12 and rising will pass a store at DA 18 and falling.

What you can do yourself
Same work as Domain Authority, measured over time: supplier "where to buy" listings, products sent to niche bloggers and press, real trade and local directories, one citable page a quarter. Then watch two things — new referring domains each month in Search Console or Moz, and lost ones (sites that closed or dropped the link); a falling trend is usually lost links, and a polite email to the site owner recovers more of them than you'd expect. Five relevant links beat five hundred junk ones, and paid or swapped links can cost you the score outright.
