Knowledge Graph

A knowledge graph is a structured database of entities and the relationships between them — this company makes that product, that product belongs to this category, this place is in that country. Google's Knowledge Graph, introduced in 2012, powers the information panels in search and feeds the factual knowledge Google's AI features and other tools draw on when they answer about a brand without searching. Other systems maintain their own; the concept is the same.

Getting into a knowledge graph is not a form you fill in. It is the result of consistent, corroborated facts about your store appearing across enough independent sources that the system is confident the entity exists and knows what it is. Most independent stores are absent, which is fine for answers grounded in live search — the tool reads your page and doesn't need to remember you — but is the reason a well-known competitor gets named from memory and you don't. What moves you toward it is unglamorous: a complete Google Business Profile, identical name and details everywhere, Organization schema with sameAs links to your profiles, and mentions on real sites. Searching your brand name and finding a panel is the sign it worked.

What it means for your store

When Google shows a panel about a brand, or an AI tool describes a company confidently without citing a page, it's drawing on a knowledge graph. Getting into it isn't a form you fill in; it's the result of consistent, corroborated facts about your store across the web. Small stores are usually absent — which is fine for live-search answers and a problem for model-memory ones.

Why it matters

It's why a well-known competitor gets named from memory and you don't. You can't buy your way in, but consistency and mentions move you toward it.

How CataSEO helps

CataSEO's Organization and brand schema, consistent across every page, gives Google the corroborating signals a knowledge graph entry needs.

What you can do yourself

Claim and complete your Google Business Profile. Keep name, address, phone and description identical across your site, social profiles, supplier listings and directories. Add Organization schema with sameAs links to those profiles. Earn a few mentions on real sites. Then search your brand name and watch for a panel.
