Product Schema
Product schema is the specific structured-data type for product pages, defined by schema.org and used by Google, Bing and AI tools to understand what's for sale. It's the form every product page should fill in. The fields that matter most for an online store: name, image, description, brand, an offer (price, currency, availability, and the URL to buy), aggregateRating and review if you have reviews, and at least one identifier — GTIN, MPN or SKU — so the product can be matched to the same item elsewhere.
Most platforms emit a basic version automatically. The problems are in the details: themes that override it and break it, apps that inject a second conflicting copy, and — most often — fields left blank because nobody filled the brand or GTIN in the product data. Blank fields read as unknown, and an unknown product is one a machine can't confidently recommend or an agent can't confidently buy. Google's Rich Results Test reports exactly which fields are missing on a given page, and Search Console's Products report shows the same site-wide. Filling the product data in your platform is usually the whole fix; CataSEO writes the schema and the description together so they can't drift apart.
What it means for your store
Product schema is the form every product page should fill in. The fields that matter most for a store: name, image, description, brand, offers (price, currency, availability), aggregateRating if you have reviews, and an identifier (GTIN, MPN or SKU). Most platforms output a basic version; many themes break it or leave brand and identifiers blank. Blank fields read as "unknown," and unknown products don't get recommended.
Why it matters
It's the concrete fix behind the "structured data missing" defect, and the data AI agents will use to compare and buy.
How CataSEO helps
CataSEO writes complete product schema for every item, with the description and fields kept in sync.
What you can do yourself
Test a product URL in the Rich Results Test and note which Product fields are missing or flagged. Fill brand, price, availability and an identifier in your platform's product data. If the schema itself is broken, switch the theme setting or add a schema app. Then check Search Console's Products report for site-wide errors.
